Sri Lankan Vein Graphite – The World’s Rarest Natural Graphite.

What is Vein Graphite?

Sri Lanka is globally recognized for producing vein graphite, a rare and unique form of natural graphite that occurs only in a few geological environments worldwide.
Unlike flake or amorphous graphite deposits found in many countries, vein graphite forms in hydrothermal veins within metamorphic rocks, producing extremely pure and highly crystalline graphite.
Sri Lanka remains the only country where vein graphite is commercially mined, making it a strategically important source of high-quality natural graphite.

Vein graphite forms when carbon-rich fluids crystallize in rock fractures under high temperature and pressure.

This process produces:

  • Dense graphite veins
  • Large crystalline structures
  • Very high natural carbon purity

These characteristics distinguish vein graphite from other types of graphite such as flake and amorphous graphite.
